Second Session in Easter Hols

We had a day of April showers for our last Easter holiday club. There's something really lovely about busily being creative while the rain pours down outside. There were even hailstones at one point. Everyone was busy making zentangles which is a form of pattern making and a very relaxing activity. We then moved on to paper bag puppets. Yoda and Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars were created, an owl and a robot bear. When the sun broke through the children were able to get out in the garden to make their terrariums. Two jay birds were playfully hopping on the branches of the plum tree. We had a fun chat about the popularity of terrariums in Victorian times when it was difficult to grow plants due to the pollution. They also decorated pencil holders, made cardboard owls and did some sculpting with homemade clay. It was great to see the children totally absorbed in the projects, making new friends and learning in an environment very different from school. It's not just about the finished product; it's what happens along the way.
